Making paper by hand is one of the oldest forms of art that exists in the world. With origins that are traced back to China almost 3,000 years ago, hand-made paper is renowned for its beauty, individuality, and the tradition that is behind it.

Papermaking is a skill that has been passed through generations in many parts of the world. In a remote part of Nepal, it is not only a craft that is proudly created with care, it is an income source for women across the region.

These paper makers work year-round to create beautiful, uniquely dyed and individualized sheets of paper, handcrafted the same way it has been for centuries. Made from the pulp of an indigenous shrub that is responsibly harvested, the purchase of these sheets help support these families, and send thousands of children to school to help them pursue careers that can give back to their communities.

This has protected thousands of acres of forest that is home to many endangered species.
